PALM HARBOR, Fla.-- Some anti-Republicans crashed Senator Marco Rubio's address to Florida Delegates Tuesday.
Sen. Rubio was talking to Florida delegates when three people started yelling to him. One lady yelled for Rubio to "pay his fair share." The three were escorted out by security. One protester says she is a registered Republican.
A spokesman for the chair of the Republican party says they aren't sure how they got in. Badges are required, and might not have been checked.
PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) - Protesters interrupted Sen. Marco Rubio four times during a speech to Florida Republican National Convention delegates, saying they represent the working class.
Rubio didn't get ruffled during Tuesday morning's disruptions. He joked that the first protester had stumbled into the wrong convention.
Moments later, a second protester interrupted, saying, "Mr. Rubio, we want you to pay your fair share."
Then a third protester started shouting. The crowd drowned him out with chants of "Marco! Marco!" When they finished, Rubio asked that the crowd not reply "Polo."
After the fourth interruption, Rubio said, "At least they called me Mr. Rubio. I've been called worse."
Police said the protesters were given a trespass warning but weren't arrested.
