DELAND, Fla. (WFTV) -- Officials said a skydiver was seriously injured while he was trying to land in DeLand on Saturday.

The skydiver, who is in his 60's, was rushed to Halifax Hospital after a hard landing near the DeLand airport.

According to the manager of Skydive DeLand, the man may have had some kind of medical issue that caused him to be unable to steer his parachute.

The man underwent surgery at the hospital Saturday night, officials said. They have not released any further details on his condition.

This is the second incident at Skydive Deland this month. A skydiver was killed on May 8 after his parachute failed.
