SANFORD, Fla. (WFTV) -- One day after Channel 9 learned a 16-year-old student at Ocoee High School had an active case of tuberculosis, another case of TB was reported in Seminole County.
The infected student is an Exceptional Student Education student at Seminole High School, according to the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County.
School officials, as well as families of attending students, are being notified and are participating in the investigation.
About 125 students and staff from the school have been identified for testing. Those individuals exposed are being medically evaluated and will be offered therapy, if found infected, officials said.
The investigation was initiated following the recent hospitalization and release of a student with active TB.
At Ocoee High school, health department officials said about 130 student and staff from the school will be tested for TB.
TB is spread from person to person through close contact through the air and requires prolonged exposure to the same indoor air with the infected person, according to health department officials.
Officials said TB is easily cured through medical treatment.
