ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An off-duty police officer was out jogging when registered sex offender, Patrick Simone, drove up next to her and asked for directions, according to investigators.
When the officer approached, Simone exposed himself.
The officer snapped photos of Simone and his car.
The incident happened near the guard-gated country club Greentree community off of Dean Road.
People in the community were not happy to find out Simone, convicted of a sex crime in Broward County in 2008, is their neighbor.
One neighbor was so concerned they didn’t want to show their face and asked WFTV to change their voice.
"Living in this community, having him as a neighbor shocks the living daylights out of me," the neighbor said.
In 2008, Simone showed up at a park with two box cutters and handcuffs, planning to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex.
He served about four years of a five-year sentence and underwent a psychological evaluation.
The Department of Corrections said rehabilitation programs are available for inmates, but can't say if Simone took any.
Even though indecent exposure is a misdemeanor, Simone may not get out any time soon.
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said it could expose him to state prison for violation of probation.
His neighbors said they hope that will be enough to keep him from coming back to their community.
