ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — (WFTV.com) A woman and infant were hospitalized after an accident involving a train and a car in the Taft area of Orange County Monday afternoon.

Troopers said a Toyota Corolla carrying three people was struck by the Amtrak train when the car's driver went around the lowered crossing arms.

According to troopers, the woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and her baby, who was ejected from the car, was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

The woman's husband, who was driving the car, is being cited for going around a downed crossing arm and for not having his child properly restrained, troopers said.

Amtrak officials said there were more than 100 people on the train. One person on the train suffered a minor injury but did not require hospitalization.

There was no serious damage to the train and Amtrak officials expected the train to resume its journey.

The driver needs to spend at least a year in PRISON...not jail. He needs his license revoked forever. What a piece of dog do-do he is for doing that.
