SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - Attorneys for the neighborhood watch volunteer charged in the death of an unarmed teen say they'll seek a "stand your ground" hearing that could lead to criminal charges being dismissed.

A statement posted Thursday on the website for George Zimmerman's legal team says evidence released by prosecutors shows "clear support for a strong claim of self-defense."

Zimmerman says he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February in self-defense under Florida's so-called "stand your ground" law, which allows people to use deadly force, instead of retreating, if they believe their lives are in danger.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. If a judge rules the evidence fits the conditions of "stand your ground," the criminal charges would be dismissed and Zimmerman would be immune from civil action in the shooting.

Zimmerman is free on $1 million bond.

We get it, you don't like them...but no matter YOUR or MY opinion, they are STILL one of God's creatures...and every living thing under the sun and stars belongs to God....I personally don't hate anyone, BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE the way some people act and behave. They THINK they are getting away with what ever they want on God's green earth. I know they are not. God's goodness ALWAYS wins over satan's wicked.

OOPS I mean 2012....I personally think the law should be tweaked a little, but as it is, Zimmerman had every right to use it in this instance to save his own life. I am sure if it was me, I would have done the same and hoped the LAWS protect me from prosecution for defending myself.

It is not a "SO CALLED" stand your ground law. IT IS A LAW, IT should be UP HELD as any other lAW... now whether it should be REMOVED from the law books or REVISED AND REWRITTEN as a law is something the voters and politicians could/should do..but as it is as of 1012 IT IS A LAW.
