MILLINGTON, Tenn. — One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting near the Navy base in Millington, Tennessee.
According to the Naval Public Affairs Office, officers got reports of an active shooter at a recreational lodging area near the base around 3 a.m.
Millington Police Department Chief Mark Dunbar said one person was taken into custody. Investigators said that person in custody is the shooter.
Police say the motive of the shooter is currently unknown. No active military members were involved in this shooting.
The names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin are notified.
Investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department are also assisting on the scene.
