What to know now:

1. Kasich suspends campaign: Ohio Gov. John Kasich has suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination for president Wednesday. Kasich dropped out of the race the day after Sen. Ted Cruz announced he  was suspending  his campaign  Tuesday night. "I have always said that the Lord has a purpose for me as he has for everyone," Kasich told reporters in Columbus, Ohio. "And as I suspend my campaign today, I have renewed faith, deeper faith, that the Lord will show me the way forward, and fulfill the purpose of my life."

2. N.C. law violates civil rights: The U.S. Justice Department said Wednesday that a North Carolina law limiting protection to LGBT people is in violation of federal civil rights protections and cannot be enforced. The legislation, which has become known as "the bathroom law," requires transgender people to use public bathrooms that conform to the sex on their birth certificate. The Justice Department informed the governor that the state is in danger of being sued and losing millions in federal funding.

3. Did Guccifer hack Hillary: The Romanian hacker called "Guccifer" said he easily and repeatedly hacked into the personal email server of Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State. "For me, it was easy ... easy for me, for everybody," Guccifer, whose real name is Marcel Lehel Lazar  told Fox News. Lazar was extradited to the United States from Romania last month to face charges he hacked several political figures including Gen. Colin Powell, a member of the Bush family, and former Clinton advisor Sidney Blumenthal. Clinton's campaign says they have been told there is no evidence showing Lazar was able to hack into the server Clinton kept at her New York home.

4. Prince investigation: Investigators looking into the death of Prince say the singer was set to meet with an addiction specialist on the day he died. According to media reports, Dr. Howard Kornfeld, who deals with opioid addiction treatment at his clinic in California, was to meet with Prince on April 21, the day the singer died. Reportedly, Kornfeld came to Prince's home, but the singer never answered the door. He was found dead in an elevator that day.

5. Manziel in court: Heisman Trophy winner and former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday to answer charges he struck his ex-girlfriend several times during a fight on Jan. 30  in Dallas. Manziel will hear the charges against him and have an opportunity to enter a plea.

The annual remembrance commemorates the deaths  of 6 million Jews and 5 million other victims in the infamous Nazi concentration camps.  Israel will mark the day in a celebration of life that includes a moment of silence and a two-minute air siren blast.
