HOUSTON — Two proud grandparents were moved to tears when their hardworking grandson presented them with a large check to pay off their mortgage.
But Stefun Darts didn’t stop there.
The teen from Houston, Texas, also gave his grandparents a vacation to the Bahamas.
Darts shared the special moment in a March 20 Facebook post.
"Even with this, I could never repay you for what you've done for me," Dart wrote in the post. "I sacrificed my teenage and early adulthood of not having fun for this moment. I couldn't stand you going to work at night, some nights I didn't even sleep knowing it shouldn't be like this."
His grandparents cried tears of joy when he presented the $15,000 check and surprise vacation.
"I couldn't believe it," Marilyn Roberts, Darts' grandmother, told KHOU. "To have a grandson like that is a blessing."
Darts is a full-time college student and works a full-time job, all while running two small non-profits.
For more than two decades, Darts' grandparents have been paying their mortgage.
They were scheduled to finish paying for their home in another four years.
“He’s a very special kid and I just love having him in my life,” said Cecil Roberts, Darts' grandfather.
Darts said he genuinely loves making other people happy. “To see tears of joy, to experience that in a lifetime, it’s like, how many people can say that?” Darts said.
