"When they turned around, he was on the ground," daughter Rebeca Rodriguez told KNBC.

Corrales, a retired mechanic who has lived in the neighborhood for more than 25 years, cared for his wife, Maria, who has kidney disease, taking her to dialysis treatments daily, KNBC reported.

"They were one," Rodriguez told KTLA. "Now, she's in there, having a rough time. She's sick."

Corrales is survived by his wife, five daughters, 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

GoFundMe account was set up to help the family.

Long Beach police believe the shooting is gang-related and that Corrales was shot by a stray bullet, according to a release.

Investigators found another man in a nearby vehicle who also was hit by gunfire. The victim, whose condition is unknown, took himself to the hospital.

No suspects have been arrested, police said.

"I just ask whoever (did) this can see the pain that he's causing the family," Rodriguez told KNBC.
