Teen battling cancer gets 'superhero' support

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego teen has been waging the fight of his life against cancer.

But this week, 18-year-old Ryan Wilcox got some superhero support in his fight in the form of The Avengers, KNSD reported.

Or at least the actors who portray Captain America and Iron Man visited the teen.

The amazing visit by Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow all started with a video in early May.

Paltrow saw a video posted to YouTube of Evans wishing Wilcox well and for him to stay strong in his cancer battle.

Paltrow then suggested a trip to meet Wilcox.

The plans came to fruition on Monday when Paltrow, Evans and Downey showed up at the Wilcox's home.

Ryan's mother Amy told KNSD that, "They came into our home, sat on our couches and just visited with us."

She also said that the trio didn't want cameras, but to have an under-the-radar visit with their fan.
