Walmart loss prevention officer thwarts kidnapping attempt, police say

FORT WORTH, Texas — A loss prevention officer is being credited with stopping an apparent attempted kidnapping Monday at a Fort Worth Walmart store, according to multiple reports.

The incident was reported around 6 p.m. Monday at the Walmart in the 2900 block of Renaissance Square in southeast Fort Worth, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Police Officer Tracy Carter told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the Walmart loss prevention officer confronted a man and a woman after they were seen trying to take a child out of a cart at the store. The child was reported to be a 4-year-old girl, according to the newspaper.

Police told the Morning News that the pair fled in a red SUV without the child after they were confronted. No injuries were reported.

The pair has not been identified.
