Multiple people dead after small plane crashes in Montana, sheriff says

BILLINGS, Mont. — A small plane hit a tower guide wire and crashed Saturday night in a remote part of Montana, killing all aboard, investigators said.

The number and identities of the passengers aboard the four-seater Cessna TR182 were not released Sunday, The Billings Gazette reported.

Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder was contacted about an overdue plane around 2 a.m. and started searching for the wreckage at first light Sunday.

Deputies used cellphone pings to determine the crash site and found the charred remains near Dunn Mountain in an area difficult to access using a helicopter.

“It’s tough. It’s not a real rough area, but there’s some coulees and stuff that it’s tough to get across,” Linder told the Gazette.
