Recap: Maryland vs. North Carolina

College Park, MD (Sports Network) - P.J. Hairston and Reggie Bullock combined for 41 points, powering the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 79-68 road win over the Maryland Terrapins in ACC action at the Comcast Center on Wednesday night.

Bullock netted 19 points and completed a double-double with 12 rebounds, as he shot 6-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range for the Tar Heels (22-8, 12-5 ACC). Hairston led all scorers with 22 points, while also grabbing eight rebounds. James Michael McAdoo rounded out the top scorers for UNC with 10 points, as the Heels won their sixth-straight game and clinched a first round bye in the ACC Tournament.

The Terrapins (20-10, 8-9) were led by Dez Wells, who finished with 18 points and six rebounds to go with three steals and two blocks. Nick Faust managed 16 points off the bench, while shooting 6-of-10 from the field. Maryland has lost four of its last seven games and has not won consecutive bouts since early February.

After holding the Terps to 37.5 percent shooting from the field and 2-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc in the first half, UNC led 34-27 at halftime.

Maryland's long-distance shooting woes continued in the second half, making just 1-of-9 shots from 3-point range as the Terps were outscored, 45-41. North Carolina's lead ballooned to 16 points at the 12:47 mark of the second half, before the Tar Heels settled in for the 11-point win.

Maryland dominated play in the paint, outscoring UNC down low 40-16. The Tar Heels countered though from long distance, hitting on 10-of-24 from behind the arc, knocking down five 3-pointers in each half, while Maryland was able to make good on just 3-of-23 3-point attempts.
