Recap: Kansas State vs. West Virginia

Manhattan, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Thomas Gipson and Shane Southwell both tallied 20 points as the Kansas State Wildcats crushed the West Virginia Mountaineers, 78-56, in Big 12 Conference action at Bramlage Coliseum.

Gipson shot 9-of-11 from the floor and Southwell hit 4-of-8 attempts behind the 3-point line, while the pair combined to clear 11 rebounds and hand out seven assists for the Wildcats (14-4, 4-1 Big 12) as they posted their second straight win and the 12th in the last 13 outings. Marcus Foster pitched in with 15 points and Jevon Thomas eight assists off the bench.

Eron Harris scored a game-high 21 points for the Mountaineers (10-8, 2-3), followed by Juwan Staten with a double-double consisting of 16 points and 11 rebounds, but at the same time he turned the ball over seven times for a squad that has dropped three in a row.

West Virginia led by as many as five within the first three minutes of the meeting, but the team ended up shooting just 6-of-20 from the floor in the period, en route to a 37-24 deficit at the break. KSU made good on 58.3 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the Wildcats continued to shoot the ball well at a 51.9 percent clip, leaving the Mountaineers behind in the comfortable win.

In addition to turning the ball over 15 times and shooting just 4-of-15 behind the 3-point line, WVU finished the day with only 32.7 percent accuracy from the floor.
