Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Monday that quarterback Braxton Miller is day-to-day with an MCL sprain in his left knee.

Miller, a junior tabbed as one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy, suffered the injury on the first drive of Saturday's game against San Diego State.

Miller got pinned between tacklers while converting a fourth down from the SDSU 12-yard line with his legs. After being taken by cart to the locker room, Miller returned to the sideline by the end of the first quarter wearing a brace on his knee.

Backup quarterback Kenny Guiton took over for Miller and completed 19-of-28 passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He ran for another touchdown in Ohio State's 42-7 win.

The fourth-ranked Buckeyes play at California on Saturday.
