Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Commissioner John Iamarino deemed this week's Southern Conference athletic directors meetings positive as the schools decide their future plans amid conference realignment.

The 12-school conference, spread across five southeastern states, is losing the College of Charleston to the Colonial Athletic Association beginning in the 2013-14 school year. Also, Georgia Southern and Appalachian State have both announced a desire to move to a Football Bowl Subdivision conference.

Despite two days of positive talks, Iamarino said in Friday's edition of the Times Free Press of Chattanooga, Tenn., the SoCon athletic directors did not come to a consensus on how the league should proceed.

"There are supporters in both camps as to, do we take a step now, regardless of what happens with App State and Georgia Southern, or do we wait to see how more of the sands wind up shifting?" Iamarino said.

Former SoCon members East Tennessee State and VMI are rumored to be in the mix if the conference seeks new membership.
