The Jacksonville Jaguars have existed for over 20 years -- but the team has employed only four heading coaches during that span.

The team stuck with Gus Bradley for nearly four full seasons even as Bradley compiled a 14-48 (.226) record.

In short, the Jaguars' job is an attractive one for one reason: Owner Shad Khan has already shown he's not a one-and-done owner -- the San Francisco 49ers fired their head coach (Chip Kelly) after just one year for the second season in a row.

Who is the top candidate to replace Bradley? The Jaguars have made it well-known they want a coach with experience in the Playoffs, and that fits Mike Smith, the current defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who also served in that role for the Jaguars from 2003 to 2007:

1. Mike Smith, 59, Tampa Bay Defensive Coordinator

Head coaching record: 66-46 (1-4 in the Playoffs)

Why he will be hired: Has strong Jaguars ties -- was the defensive coordinator for the Jaguars before he was hired by Atlanta. Has over 100 games of head coaching experience.

2. Josh McDaniels, 40, New England Offensive Coordinator

Head coaching record: (11-17)

Why he will be hired: Considered one of the game's best offensive minds. Has quarterbacks coaching expertise and would be of help to fourth-year quarterback Blake Bortles.

3. Doug Marrone, 53, Jaguars Interim Head Coach

Head coaching record: (16-18)

Why he will be hired: Marrone led the Jaguars for the final two games in 2016. Won the first game (a blowout  vs. Titans) after named Interim coach.

4. Kyle Shanahan, 37, Atlanta Offensive Coordinator

Head coaching record: None

Why he will be hired: See McDaniels. Under his watch, Matt Ryan has quarterbacked the Falcons into the playoffs.

5. Anthony Lynn, 48, Buffalo Interim Head Coach

Head coaching record: None

Why he will be hired: Has ties with the Jags -- served as Jacksonville's running backs coach the same time Smith served as defensive coordinator. Has been repeatedly interviewed for various head coaching positions in the NFL.

Head coaching record:

6. Tom Coughlin, 70, former Jaguars/Giants Head Coach

Head coaching record: 170-150

Why he will be hired: Won two Super Bowls after leaving the Jaguars. Maintains ties to the Jacksonville area.

7. Harold Goodwin, 44, Arizona Offensive Coordinator

Head coaching record: None

Why he will be hired: Has turned Arizona's offense into one of the best in the NFL. Team made playoffs two of the last three seasons.
