Kickoff times for Duval County high school football games changed after shooting

The Duval County school district is making permanent changes to high school football schedules for this season.

These scheduling changes are just one of the steps being taken to increase safety and keeps students safe. School leaders are hoping the additional security and scheduling changes will prevent violence at high school football games.

In August, one man died and two were hurt after a shooting at the Raines vs. Lee High football opener.

After the shooting, school leaders said that some games will be moved to Thursday nights and Saturday mornings.

“We want our young people to be safe and enjoy their high school years,” Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Diane Greene said.
