Marijuana charges against Jaguars DT Marcell Dareus dropped

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Drug charges against Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcell Dareus have been dropped, according to Duval Clerk of Court records.

Dareus was given a citation for marijuana in Neptune Beach last month.

Dareus was initially pulled over for speeding on Atlantic Boulevard on Oct. 2, according to the citation from the Atlantic Beach Police Department.

According to the report, the officer smelled marijuana while talking to Dareus during the traffic stop.

There were three other people inside the car at the time; no one was arrested.

At the time the citation was issued, the Jaguars said the team was aware of it and said it would be handled internally.

Dareus had surgery on to repair a core muscle injury he sustained in the Jaguars' victory over Cincinnati on Oct. 20. He was placed on the Jaguars' injured reserve list on Oct. 25.
