Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Friday that the team has come to terms with relief pitcher Brad Ziegler on a two-year contract that includes a club option for the 2016 season.

One of the game's most durable bullpen arms, Ziegler is coming off a strong 2013 season in which he saved a career-high 13 games and led the National League with 78 appearances along with posting a 2.22 earned run average. The veteran right-hander has pitched in at least 64 games in each of the last five years.

Ziegler has registered a 2.29 ERA over three seasons with the Diamondbacks since being acquired from Oakland midway through the 2011 campaign, the lowest among all pitchers with 50 or more appearances in franchise history.

The 34-year-old had been scheduled to become a free agent at the conclusion of the upcoming 2014 season.
