Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds selected the contract of pitcher Greg Reynolds from Triple-A Louisville and named him the starter for Sunday's finale of a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Left-hander Tony Cingrani was scheduled to start Sunday's contest, but was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right lower back strain.

Reynolds was called up earlier this season to make a spot start on July 23 against San Francisco. The 28-year-old right-hander gave up five runs on eight hits over five innings of work in an eventual 5-3 loss.

Despite struggling in his only big league action this year, Reynolds has thrived at Louisville, going 12-3 with a 2.42 earned run average in 23 games, including 21 starts.

The move for Cingrani is retroactive to Aug. 21, one day after the young southpaw felt soreness in his back in a start against Arizona and exited the contest after just 3 2/3 frames.

Over 21 games, including 16 starts, during his sophomore campaign, Cingrani has pitched to a 6-3 record with a 2.76 ERA.
