Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies placed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a rib fracture on his right side.

Tulowitzki is expected to miss the next 4-to-6 weeks after suffering the injury while diving for a grounder in the eighth inning of Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals.

The standout shortstop went 1-for-3 with a run scored before the injury and is hitting .347 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI through 61 games this season.

Tulowitzki was the third Rockie to fall victim to an injury in Thursday's setback, as outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Dexter Fowler each went down earlier in the contest.

Gonzalez took a Jordan Pacheco foul ball off the ankle while standing in the on-deck circle in the bottom of the first inning. Gonzalez left the game immediately and was diagnosed with a left foot contusion.

Fowler, meanwhile, was removed from the game in the fifth inning, two frames after being hit on the right knuckle on his ring finger by a Ross Detwiler pitch.

Precautionary X-rays were negative and Fowler is listed as day-to-day.

The injury-riddled Rockies recalled outfielder Josh Rutledge from Triple- A Colorado Springs to replace Tulowitzki.

Rutledge batted .242 with five home runs and 13 RBI over 43 games with the Rockies earlier this season.
