New York, NY (Sports Network) - Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was named American League Player of the Month for August -- his fourth career monthly award and second this season.
The reigning AL MVP and 2012 Triple Crown winner batted .356 with a .430 on- base percentage, 11 home runs, five doubles, a .733 slugging percentage and 31 RBI for the month. He also won the award for June.
Cabrera's 11 home runs were the most by a Tigers player in August since Al Kaline hit 12 in 1957.
Alfonso Soriano of the Yankees, Adrian Beltre of the Rangers and Mike Trout of the Angels also received votes for August.
