Royals, Hochevar agree to terms on one-year deal

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Luke Hochevar on a one-year contract for 2013, avoiding arbitration.

Hochevar, who was the top pick in the 2006 draft, went 8-16 with a 5.73 ERA in 32 starts for the Royals last season. He set a career-high with 144 strikeouts.

Over 132 career appearances, including 128 starts, Hochevar is 38-59 with a 5.39 ERA.
