Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals have signed pitcher Jeremy Guthrie to a three-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.

Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Guthrie, 33, was acquired from the Colorado Rockies on July 20 in exchange for pitcher Jonathan Sanchez. The right-hander went 5-3 with a 3.16 earned run average over 14 starts with the Royals, including a 4-0 mark with a 2.17 ERA over his final 11 starts.

The nine-year veteran was selected 22nd overall by Cleveland in the 2002 amateur draft and owns a 55-77 record with a 4.28 ERA in 210 career games -- including 183 starts -- with the Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Rockies and Royals.
