New York, NY (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez has replaced Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies in the 2013 Chevrolet Home Run Derby.

Gonzalez, who is an All-Star for the second time in his career, has withdrawn from the competition after suffering a sprained right middle finger earlier this week.

Alvarez will join David Wright, Bryce Harper and Michael Cuddyer on the NL side for the event. Robinson Cano, Chris Davis, defending Derby champion Prince Fielder and Yoenis Cespedes will represent the AL.

Alvarez is hitting .253 with 23 homers and 60 RBI in 82 games this season.

The Home Run Derby will take place on Monday at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
