San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Hunter Pence wasn't dealt at the trade deadline in July for the first time in three years and will remain with the San Francisco Giants for the foreseeable future after signing a five-year contract on Sunday.

The announcement of his contract came hours prior to him singling in the winning run in a 7-6 season-ending win over the San Diego Padres.

Pence went from Houston to Philadelphia at the 2011 deadline, then was sent to San Francisco last July. He remained put this year with free agency approaching, but the Giants on Sunday locked him up through the 2018 season.

Financial terms weren't disclosed, but the San Francisco Chronicle reported the contract to be worth $90 million. The paper said Pence wanted a six-year deal and the Giants were offering four, so they compromised and also included a no-trade clause.

"Ensuring that Hunter remained a Giant beyond this season was a top priority for the organization," said Giants general manager Brian Sabean. "He was an integral part in helping us win the World Series last season and he provides our club with great veteran presence, both on the field and in the clubhouse, with just all the energy and passion that he brings to the field every day."

Pence hit .283 and had team-highs highs of 27 homers and 99 runs batted in. He also led the club with 22 stolen bases.

The 30-year-old Texas native is a two-time All-Star (2009, 2011) in seven big league seasons. He has a career average of .285 with 165 homers and 615 RBI in 1,056 games with Houston (2007-11), Philadelphia (2011-12) and San Francisco (2012-13).
