Mariners manager Wedge suffers mild stroke

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday that manager Eric Wedge has suffered a very mild stroke.

Wedge was helped from the field during batting practice prior to Monday's game after feeling a dizzy spell.

The 45-year-old manager spent the last two days in the hospital, where doctors performed testing that confirmed the stroke.

Wedge was released from the hospital Wednesday and is expected to have a full and complete recovery, though he will not be in uniform for Seattle's upcoming series against Minnesota and will not travel with the team on their road trip to Boston and Baltimore.

Bench coach Robby Thompson was in charge of the Mariners again Wednesday, when they had their eight-game win streak snapped in a 10-1 loss to Cleveland.
