Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves officially re- signed forward Chase Budinger on Friday.

Terms were not disclosed, but Yahoo! Sports reported that it's a three-year contract worth a total value of $16 million and features a player option in the final year of the pact.

"We are excited that Chase has decided to make Minnesota his home next season and beyond," president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said in a statement on Friday. "We made bringing back Chase a priority because of his shooting ability, athleticism and his familiarity with Coach Adelman's system. We look forward to watching his continued development in a Wolves uniform."

Budinger's first season with the Timberwolves got off to a rough start. He tore his left lateral meniscus in his knee in the sixth game. He underwent surgery on Nov. 13 and returned in March, playing 17 more games. Overall, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 22 minutes.

Minnesota acquired Budinger from Houston just prior to the 2012 NBA Draft.

The 25-year-old Budinger has averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 233 career games with the Rockets and Timberwolves.
