San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan and head coach Gregg Popovich did not travel with the team to Dallas on Thursday, leaving them unavailable for Friday's matchup with the Mavericks.

Duncan is nursing a sore left knee that has forced him to miss two of the last three games, while Popovich will miss his second straight contest with an illness.

Coach Mike Budenholzer, who guided the Spurs to a 106-102 victory over New Orleans on Wednesday, will lead the team in Popovich's absence.

The 36-year-old Duncan is averaging 17.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and has the Spurs sitting atop the Southwest Division with a 34-11 mark.
