1 (26) - Datone Jones, DE, UCLA; 2 (61) - Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama; 4 (109) - David Bakhtiari, OT, Colorado; 4 (122) - J.C. Tretter, OT, Cornell; 4 (125) - Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA; 5 (159) - Micah Hyde, FS, Iowa; 5 (167) - Josh Boyd, DT, Mississippi State; 6 (193) - Nate Palmer, LB, Illinois State; 7 (216) - Charles Johnson, WR, Grand Valley State; 7 (224) - Kevin Dorsey, WR, Maryland; 7 (232) - Sam Barrington, OLB, South Florida

Top Picks Analysis: Give general manger Ted Thompson credit. He got UCLA defensive end Datone Jones in the first round, a good fit for the Packers 3-4 defense, and perhaps more importantly finally put an end to the nonsense at the running back position in Titletown by stealing Lacy in the second round and then snaring Franklin on the third day. I'm not sure Lacy fits in Green Bay's pass-happy scheme but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to alleviate at least some of the pressure they put on Aaron Rodgers by actually running the football on occasion.

Best Value Pick: Bakhtiari is a versatile player who will be given every opportunity to fit in at left tackle. If he doesn't show the feet or athleticism to help there, though, he's position-flexible enough to flip to the right side or move inside. so he's a safe prospect.

Questionable Calls: As much as some of us like Lacy, it's hard to envision Mike McCarthy embracing the Alabama star's skill-set. Thompson may be playing Billy Beane to McCarthy's Art Howe (think Brad Pitt and Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Moneyball"), forcing the head-strong mentor to do what is right for the good of the team.

Summary: It was a solid draft by Thompson, addressing three major needs: defensive end, running back and offensive tackle. He played it safe and while there are no All-Pros here, there are a number of potentially solid contributors.

FINAL GRADE: B

Undrafted rookie free agent signings: Illinois State QB Matt Brown; Illinois State S Ben Ericksen; Texas A&M C Patrick Lewis; Eastern Michigan DE/OLB Andy Mulumba; Kansas State RB Angelo Pease; Mississippi DT Gilbert Pena; Ohio State TE Jake Stoneburner; Oklahoma State OG Lane Taylor; Louisiana College OT Jeremy Vujnovich; Louisiana Tech WR Myles White; Oklahoma LS James Winchester; Northern Arizona CB Devin Willis
