Renton, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks activated Russell Okung from injured reserve-designated to return on Saturday, with the 2012 Pro Bowl offensive tackle expected to start the team's upcoming game against Minnesota.

Okung had been sidelined the past eight weeks with a torn ligament in the big toe on his left foot. The 2010 first-round pick suffered the injury during Seattle's 29-3 victory over NFC West-rival San Francisco on Sept. 15, but returned to practice last week.

The Seahawks had moved regular left guard Paul McQuistan over to left tackle in Okung's absence and will shift him back into his usual spot for Sunday's matchup with the Vikings.

To make room for Okung on the active roster, the Seahawks released quarterback B.J. Daniels. The rookie had been serving as Seattle's No. 3 signal-caller after being claimed off waivers from the 49ers in early October.
