Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks have acquired center Derek Roy from the Dallas Stars in exchange for defensive prospect Kevin Connauton and a second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Roy was in his first season with the Stars, who picked up the 29-year-old Ottawa native in a trade with Buffalo last July. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
In 30 games this season, Roy has four goals and 18 assists for 22 points. He had spent eight years with the Sabres.
Roy has 165 goals and 284 assists for 449 points in 579 NHL games since making his debut with Buffalo during the 2003-04 season.
