Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to terms with pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Mark Streit.
TSN of Canada reported Monday that the deal is for four years. No financial terms were revealed.
The Flyers acquired the rights to Streit from the New York Islanders in exchange for prospect Shane Harper and a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft on June 12, and have been working with the 35-year-old blueliner to secure a new deal before he hits the free agent market on July 5.
However, whatever deal is struck cannot become official until the onset of the compliance buyout period, which is not scheduled until 48 hours after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Streit recorded six goals and 21 assists while appearing in all 48 games for the Islanders this past season. He added two goals and three assists in six playoff games.
