Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets placed defenseman Jacob Trouba on injured reserve on Saturday, one day after he was taken off the ice on a stretcher during a matchup against the St. Louis Blues.

Trouba was injured early in the second period of Friday's contest when he missed his check and did a painful faceplant into the end boards behind the St. Louis net.

The 19-year-old blueliner was taken to a hospital and later released after being diagnosed with a neck sprain that will keep him in a brace for two weeks before more testing.

Trouba, selected ninth overall by the Jets in the 2012 draft, notched a goal and an assist over eight games in his first NHL action this season.

To replace Trouba on the roster, Winnipeg recalled defenseman Adam Pardy from the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

Pardy has racked up four goals and 29 assists in 200 career games with Calgary, Dallas, and Buffalo over eight seasons.
