Coolum, Australia (Sports Network) - Daniel Popovic carded a 3-under 69 on Sunday to win the Australian PGA Championship by four strokes.

Popovic, a first-year player on the PGA Tour of Australasia, finished at 16- under 272, while fellow Australians Rod Pampling (69) and Anthony Brown (71) tied for second place.

Geoff Ogilvy (69) and Brad Kennedy (70) tied for fourth place at 11-under, while Nathan Green (69) and Richard Green (69) both finished at minus-10.

Popovic entered the final round with a 2-stroke advantage, but Pampling recorded birdies on his first six holes to jump in front.

Pampling was still on top late when he faltered to bogeys on Nos. 16 and 17 and a double-bogey on the last.

Popovic took advantage, closing with a birdie and a par, respectively, to wrap up the improbable victory. The 26-year-old had made only seven of 12 cuts on the Australian circuit in 2012.
