Hibiscus Coast, South Africa (Sports Network) - Marianne Skarpnord was named the winner of the African Women's Open after the event was called following the completion of just a single round.

Skarpnord carded a 3-under 69 on Friday to earn the victory.

Saturday's second round was then postponed due to high winds, and a few players were only able to finish a few holes on Sunday before play was suspended due to more strong wind and rain.

With Monday's weather forecast predicted to be equally as bad, tournament promoters declared Skarpnord the winner based on her first-round score.

"It's not the way we all would have liked to end the tournament, but we all understand how difficult the weather was. It was a very challenging week for everybody," Skarpnord said about her first career win on the Ladies European Tour.

Minea Blomqvist, Ashleigh Simon, Stacy Lee Bregman, Charley Hull, Camilla Lennarth, Katie Burnett and Nina Holleder shared second place at 2-under.
