JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the first time since open practices ended last week the Jacksonville Jaguars played with crowd noise this morning at the Florida Blue Practice Fields. In preparation for this Friday's game at the Superdome, coaches pushed the sound system to the limit with a heavy dose of cheering. The exercise gave Blaine Gabbert an opportunity to hone his skills with audibles while playing in a hostile environment.
Today's practice also featured a 9 on 7 drill that head coach Mike Mularkey called the best practice session he's seen all training camp. Also impressing on Tuesday was rookie wideout Justin Blackmon. In just his second practice in pads Blackmon continued to wow with the catches that made him the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. It was also a very physical practice for the offensive line. Guard Eben Britton came off the field late in practice with exhaustion according to coach Mularkey.
A couple new faces showed up today including linebacker Nate Bussey. The second year player was claimed off the waiver wire after Bussey started the season with the New Orleans Saints. Another addition is a little more familiar with the area as cornerback Mike Holmes joined the squad. The former Mandarin High star will look to catch on with his hometown team.
