JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The score was a shocker. 74-73. You would think that must be from a basketball game. But no, that's what the scoreboard read after the second round playoff game between Clay and Bishop Kenny. A combined 147 points and 1,472 yards of offense from the Blue Devils and Crusaders. In a losing effort Kenny quarterback John Wolford had the game of his life throwing for 539 yards, running for 234 yards and accounting for ten touchdowns on the night (seven passing/three rushing).
In the end only one team could move on and with ten seconds left Clay's quarterback Wes Weeks scores the game winning touchdown on a ten yard touchdown run to put the Blue Devils ahead for good. The loss was the first of the season for Bishop Kenny and ended the career of one of the best to ever play football in Northeast Florida. Wolford finishes his high school career atop the state record books in: Passing Yards, Completions, Passing Touchdowns, and Overall Touchdowns (passing and rushing).
