JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Donovin Darius has gone from playing one game to another. The former Jag has a new job, inspiring others.
Saturday at EverBank Field more than 400 single moms and their kids will join Darius for the inaugural Mother's Day Life C.A.M.P., which stands for Character, Action, Motivation and Purpose.
The Donovin Darius Foundation sponsors the free event that's designed to empower and maximize people's lives by developing mind, body and spirit.
"I can recall when I was nine and there were five of us and my mom was sick and I went to my pastor and said, "Pray for me that I can grow up and help my family,'" said Darius.
His dream came true. A successful career in the NFL allowed the father of three to pay it forward.
Another life camp will be held in June for single fathers, with four more camps planned in the fall for girls, families with asthma, military families and others.
