JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - On a night with plenty of options for local sports fans, there was no shortage of support downtown. The Jaguars, Sharks, and Suns all hosted games on Saturday night and each proved to be a success.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, Saturday's scrimmage was a first for the Bradley/Caldwell regime as they took the show under the lights at Everbank Field with a new look and plenty of new faces. An announced crowd of over 19,000 were in attendance to support the team and get a look at what they can expect from the Jags this season. To put that number in perspective the folks over at bigcatcountry.com dug up the numbers and the Jaguars ranked 9th out of 24 NFL teams to hold a scrimmage so far (not including teams that don't release attendance numbers). For a fan base that is always defending itself they can let the numbers do the talking in this case.

Right down the road at the Veterans Memorial Arena another nearly 8,000 football fans showed up to spur the Sharks on to a come from behind win in the Arena Football League playoffs. The arena was rocking as Jacksonville scored 36 points in the fourth quarter to advance to another Conference Championship game (next week at home vs. Philadelphia).

And finally the Jacksonville Suns continued their winning ways in front of 5,000 plus fans at Bragan Field. Andy Barkett's squad has run off nine straight wins and they lead the second half standings by two and a half games in pursuit of a playoff berth.

All told that's about 32,000 sports fans spread out across three different teams and all supporting the city's teams and it's growing reputation as a sports destination.
