JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--Not the most pleasant weekend ahead for Gus Bradley who admits cutting players is one of the tougher parts of his job. That included the release today of Mike Kafka who was battling for the third quarterback spot on the roster.
The Jaguars are expected to announce their cuts later today. They have to be down to 53 by 6pm Saturday. Bradley says he hopes some of the players let go get other chances with other teams. "It's tough to tell someone who's done everything wev'e asked they are no longer part of the program, but we will never forget those guys," said Bradley.
Bradley liked the way his team handled adversity Thursday night in Atlanta, after blowing a 10-0 lead and coming back for the victory.
In other news, Bradley says he's still hopeful Blaine Gabbert can come back week one but won't push him medically. Running back Justin Forsett still not ready, but Marcedes Lewis and Will Rackley should be a full go for practice next week.
The Jags open the regular season a week from Sunday against Kansas City.
