JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Just when you thought you had made a NFL roster, the call comes a day late. 7 Jaguars released today when the team claimed 7 players off waivers.
The new players include a couple tight ends Clay Harbor from Philly and D.J. Williams from Green Bay, wide receiver Stephen Burton from the Minnesota Vikings, linebacker J.T. Thomas from Chicago, linebacker Chris McCoy from Philadelphia, defensive back Winston Guy from Seattle, and guard Jacques McClendon from Atlanta. Of course that means seven had to leave and those released today defensive back Antwon Blake, tight end Brett Brackett, linebacker Andy Studebaker, defensive tackle Kyle Love, center Dan Gerberry, fullback Lonnie Pryor, and wide receiver Jordan Shipley.
General Manager Dave Caldwell said, "we didn't have a number, we are just always trying to better our roster, and we think the guys we picked up today can help."
The team returns to the field after a weekend off to begin preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's NFL opener.
