JACKSONVILLE,Fla.--The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed wide receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) and guard Will Rackley (concussion) on injured reserve and added rookie center Patrick Lewis (signed off Cleveland’s practice squad) and second-year guard Drew Nowak to the 53-man roster.   Third-year defensive end D’Aundre Reed was signed to the club’s practice squad.

Nowak spent the first 15 weeks on the club’s practice squad this season.  He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Jaguars in 2012 and missed the entire season after suffering a foot injury during the preseason.  Nowak was a four-year letterman as a defensive tackle at Western Michigan where he played in 47 games with 32 starts.  He was moved to the offensive line during training camp with the Jaguars.  He wears jersey number 64.

Lewis, 6-1, 311, was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Green Bay and spent the preseason with the Packers before he was waived on final cuts.  He was claimed off waivers by Cleveland and spent 12 weeks on the Browns active roster but did not see action in a game.  He was waived on Nov. 26 and signed to the Browns practice squad on Nov. 29.

A native of Reserve, Louisiana, Lewis was a four-year starter at Texas A&M where he appeared in 51 games and finished his career with 48 consecutive starts.  He was a teammate of Jaguars’ 2013 first-round pick Luke Joeckel.  Lewis moved from guard to center following his sophomore season.  He attended East St. John High School in Louisiana where he played right tackle and defensive tackle.  He earned first-team all-state honors for Class 5A from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.  Lewis also lettered in track for four years, throwing the shot put and discus.

Lewis will wear jersey number 61.

Reed, 6-4, 260, was a seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 and spent two seasons with the club before he was waived on final cuts in 2013.  He was inactive for all 16 games as a rookie and saw action in six games for the Vikings in 2012.  Reed was signed by San Francisco to the practice squad on Sept. 24 and waived on Nov. 27.  He played in 47 career games with eight starts at Arizona and played in three consecutive bowl games to conclude his career.  He played defensive end and tight end at Rancho Verde High School in Moreno, Valley, California.

Reed will wear jersey number 95.
