New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Already mired in a five-game losing streak, the New York Knicks will now be without their second-leading scorer for an indefinite length of time.

The team announced Thursday that forward Andrea Bargnani tore a ligament in his left elbow during the previous night's game against Philadelphia. The Knicks have yet to give a timetable for the former No. 1 overall draft pick's expected return.

Bargnani, acquired from Toronto in a trade prior to this season, has averaged 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds over 42 games in his Knicks' debut. The 7-foot Italian tallied 20 points prior to exiting Wednesday's 110-106 loss to the 76ers late in the third quarter.

The injury further depletes a New York frontcourt that is also currently without veterans Amare Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin, both of whom are dealing with ankle sprains.

It's also the latest blow to a disappointing 2013-14 campaign for the Knicks, who are presently tied for 10th place in the Eastern Conference with a 15-27 record. New York won 54 games before reaching the conference semifinals last season.
