JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Gator Bowl Association hosted the 2012 Little Gator Bowl Pop Warner City Championships today at EverBank Field. Four champions were determined for Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner division winners for the D-1 and D-2 Junior Midget and Midget leagues. The winners are:
DIVISION 1 – JUNIOR MIDGETS
The Creeks Outlaws defeated the Arlington Seminoles 16 - 6
DIVISION 2 – JUNIOR MIDGETS
The Sweetwater Falcons defeated the Mandarin Panthers 18 - 0
DIVISION 1 - MIDGETS
The Scott Park Panthers defeated the Lakeshore Raiders 28 - 0
DIVISION 2 - MIDGETS
The Sweetwater Eagles defeated the Grand Park Jaguars 26 - 22
The D-1 winners will Host a Team from Mid-Fla (Orlando) @ First Coast High on November the 10th …If they win they will go to the Regional Championships in Orlando on November 24th.
The D-2 winners have a longer road. On November 3rd they have a BYE. On Nov 10th they will travel to Putnam to play the winner of the Putnam/Timucua game. If they win in Putnam then they will advance to Ocala (Timucua) to play the winner of the Big Bend-Panhandle-First Coast-South Ga.(Albany-Sylvester) Games; and then on to Orlando on November 24th for Regional Championships.
The D-1 and D-2 Regional winners will advance to The Pop Warner Super Bowl at Disney World beginning the first Saturday in December.
The Little Gator Bowl, first established in 1965, was played in the Gator Bowl Stadium until November 13, 1993. From 1994 until 2005, the Pop Warner City Championships were played at Mandarin High School, Forest High School and First Coast High School.
The Gator Bowl Association and the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference have enjoyed a partnership for the last nine years through the Gator Bowl’s PATCH program. “THE PATCH”, the official jersey patch of the Gator Bowl team participants, is also worn by all Pop Warner football and cheerleading participants. A college scholarship has also been established through the Gator Bowl’s PATCH program benefiting the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference.
