Mitch Seavey becomes oldest Iditarod champ

Nome, AK (Sports Network) - Former champion Mitch Seavey became the oldest person to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

The 53-year-old Seavey, who first won the Iditarod in 2004, and 10 dogs finished the trek in nine days, seven hours, 39 minutes and 56 seconds. He crossed the Nome finish line at 10:39 p.m. Alaska time Tuesday.

Seavey's son, Dallas, the 2012 Iditarod champ, holds the record for being the youngest winner.
