New York, NY (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers made headlines earlier Thursday with a pending blockbuster trade during the NBA Draft. Now they reportedly have a new head coach.

The Sixers have hired San Antonio assistant Brett Brown to fill the post left by former coach Doug Collins, according to the New York Daily News.

Collins was not retained following the Sixers' disappointing 34-48 campaign in 2012-13. Brown steps in having spent the past seven seasons under Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Earlier on draft night, Philadelphia reportedly shipped off All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for the sixth overall pick, 7-foot center Nerlens Noel, and a 2014 first-round draft choice.

Brown becomes the second Spurs' assistant this offseason to land a head coaching gig. Mike Budenholzer was hired in late May to fill the coaching position with the Atlanta Hawks.
