Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Samford University will unveil a statue of legendary football coach Bobby Bowden prior to the Bulldogs' home game Saturday at Seibert Stadium.

Bowden played at Samford (then Howard College) from 1950 to 1953, earning Little All-America honors in '52. He was the Bulldogs' head football coach from 1959 to 1962, compiling a 31-6 record for a school-record .838 winning percentage.

His statue will be placed just outside the east entrance to Seibert Stadium.

Following the ceremony, Bowden and his wife, Ann, will lead the current Samford team in the Bulldog Walk at the Samford Quad. He also will perform the coin flip before Samford's game against Southeastern Louisiana.

Bowden, best known for coaching Florida State, holds the all-time FBS wins record at 377. He also posted a 21-10-1 mark in bowl games over his long career.
